Responsibilities are not identical around Australia. Queensland and Western Australia in particular split 1080 oversight between agencies according to matters such as chemical use, restricted-poison authorisation and handling, environmental harm, and the purpose of an authorised baiting program. Where more than one route is listed, use the one that best matches what happened.

Queensland splits 1080 oversight. Queensland Health regulates restricted Schedule 7 poison dealings such as authorisation, possession, supply, storage and disposal. Biosecurity Queensland is the relevant route for suspected agricultural chemical use contrary to APVMA label or permit conditions, which can include use-related notification and signage requirements.

WA does not have one all-purpose 1080 regulator. WA Health administers the public-health and Code framework, while DPIRD and DBCA investigate and audit compliance according to the purpose of the authorised program. If you are unsure where a report belongs, Chemical Hazards is the clearest public starting point.

Current NT Government 1080 and Chemical Services pages direct baiting enquiries and chemical-use complaints to Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Chemical Services. Pollution Response remains a secondary route for pollution and spray-drift incidents.

You do not need perfect evidence to contact a regulator. Record what you can safely and avoid guessing about details you do not know.

Keep original files and, where safe, capture both the evidence and the wider context.
Road, track, reserve, entrance, landmark or coordinates can help an investigator find the site.
Record when you observed it. Approximate information is better than inventing an exact time.
Record dates, contact details, product/device type, operator information and anything you could clearly read.
Do not touch bait, ejectors, devices, carcasses or equipment to obtain evidence.
If you have already contacted an authority, keep the date, agency and case/reference number.

An official regulatory report and a Coalition community-evidence report serve different purposes. Where safe and appropriate, doing both helps preserve evidence and build a clearer picture of 1080 use and compliance nationally.
